The Gradual Slow Down
Remember the last time that got to buy a brand new PC?
Remember the fun you had in the store trying them all out and, finally, arriving at your decision?
The eager anticipation when you brought it home, took it out from the box for the very first time, and booted it up?
And then, the slowly dawning certainty that your shiny new PC would, from that day forward, never, ever perform so well again!
Isn’t that a total bummer?
The absolute knowledge that from the very first moment that you switch it on, things are already starting to happen in the Windows operating system that are not supposed to happen.
The undeniable fact that, even within just a few short days of buying your new machine, it’s already slowing down.
Why Dows Your PC Slow Down?
I the normal course of events, there is no one single reason why your PC will slow down. It’s a cumulative thing, something that builds up over time.
Sometimes, it’s a problem caused by the machine itself when, for example, it corrupts a file for some reason.
At other times it might be due to ‘operator error’! For example, you lose patience and try to switch the machine off before it is fully ready to do so.
Or, you may try to have too many programs running at the same time (the processor in any PC can only do so much at once, no matter how ‘fast’ it is) so that some form of ‘conflict’ develops between them, and once again, files or folders get damaged.
Perhaps you install and then un-install a wide variety of different software programs on a regular basis?
If you do, then be aware that this is a prime cause of defects and errors developing within Windows, and that, the more often you install and then remove programs, he more errors you will inevitably cause.
So, the reasons for the inevitable slowdown are many and various. Some are easily controllable, some less so.
How To Minimize The Slow Down Process
Most PC users are incredibly impatient.
Try not to be one of these people if at all possible.
Try not to fire too many jobs at your machine at the same time. Do not, for example, try to have three or four different types of internet browser running at the same time
Trying to run Internet Explorer, Firefox, Netscape and Opera browsers all at the same time is an almost guaranteed recipe for disaster, so don’t do it.
Likewise, running a virus scan at the same time as using a different program to search out spyware programs, will probably cause problems too.
Also, try not to install and uninstall too many different software programs. Don’t fall into the trap of just installing software because you have it. If you cannot see any real reason why you would want to use a program, don’t install it.
Then you don’t have to uninstall it either, which is the action that usually starts the problems happening.
Bottom line is that, if what you are just about to do on your PC doesn’t seem so smart, then it probably isn’t!
How To Speed Up Your PC After It Slows Down
By the time your PC is noticeably slow, the chances are that you will have literally hundred’s or errors and defects within your Windows registry.
It is not impossible that you could sit down and try to locate every one of those hundreds of errors, and then fix them annually.
Not impossible, that is, assuming that you are an absolute Windows operating system wizard and have several hours, or, more likely, days on your hands to effect the repairs!
And then you would have to assume that every repair that you effect works perfectly, and that the system ‘willingly’ co-operates with you. Which it won’t….
Truthfully, attempting to speed up your operating system manually is a waste of time and effort, asides from the fact that, in all probability, it won’t be effective!
